We thought we’d create a space to post some of our favourite resources, support services in the community and other things that may be of benefit to you living in a pandemic.
Mental Health Resources
There are many organisations and support services that are available to you to support your mental health:
Black Dog Institute
The Black Dog Institute has a wealth of resources available to you free of charge. These include a free online mental health assessment tool, a self-help tool, and a webinar series about evidence-based mental health related to COVID-19.
There are resources specific to workers and managers, schools and young people, as well as the general public. The link below provides some tools and resources related to the feelings of anxiety and stress that are common in the uncertainty of COVID-19.
The government and local community groups have in place several support services and grants available to you to access. National as well as state governments have introduced several support packages and grants aimed at helping local communities and businesses weather the pandemic. The Australian Goverment has made available a resource page to provide information on claiming disaster payments, accessing grants and support packages, as well as advice on managing finances and bills during the pandemic.
The Food Fairness Illawarra organisation has compiled a directory of food and welfare providers who are providing low cost and/or free meals to those in need in the Illawarra region. Check it out below:
SAHSSI is a not for profit Specialist Homelessness Service supporting vulnerable women and families in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions. They have over 30 years of continuous experience, primarily working with women, with or without children, affected by homelessness or domestic and family violence.
